Human and Environmental Security
A people-centered approach to security is a prerequisite to achieve sustainable stability and develop-ment. The human security approach includes the safety and wellbeing of individuals as well as economic, environmental, and political security. Climate change, loss of biodiversity, challenges to energy security – we are becoming aware of environmental threats and their consequences for national and international security and stability. At the same time, working together on solving environmental problems can be a starting point for long-term cooperation. Thus, the concept of human security offers new options for peace and stability.
